Last updated April 30, 2024

Introduction:

Tandem offers robust voice and video calling features to help you connect with your team members and collaborate effectively, no matter where you are. In this article, we'll guide you through the steps to initiate and participate in voice and video calls within the Tandem platform.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Initiating a Call:
  • From a Direct Message: To start a call with an individual team member, navigate to your direct message conversation with them and click on the phone icon located at the top right corner of the messaging panel.
  • From a Channel: If you're in a channel conversation, you can initiate a group call by clicking on the phone icon next to the channel name at the top of the messaging panel.
  1. Selecting Call Options:
  • Voice Call: If you prefer a voice-only call, click on the "Voice Call" option when prompted. This will initiate a voice call with the selected individual or group.
  • Video Call: For a video call, select the "Video Call" option instead. This will launch a video call with your chosen participants, allowing for face-to-face communication.
  1. Participating in a Call:
  • Audio Settings: Before joining the call, make sure your audio settings are configured correctly. You can adjust your microphone and speaker settings by clicking on the gear icon in the call interface.
  • Video Settings: If joining a video call, check your video settings to ensure your camera is enabled and positioned correctly. You can toggle your camera on and off using the camera icon in the call interface.
  1. Managing Call Controls:
  • Mute/Unmute: During the call, you can mute or unmute your microphone by clicking on the microphone icon in the call interface. This is useful for controlling background noise or participating in a large group call.
  • Turn Camera On/Off: In a video call, you can toggle your camera on and off using the camera icon in the call interface. This allows you to control when your video feed is visible to other participants.
  • End Call: To end the call, simply click on the red "End Call" button in the call interface. This will disconnect you from the call and return you to the Tandem platform.
  1. Additional Features:
  • Screen Sharing: Tandem also offers screen sharing capabilities during calls, allowing you to share your screen with other participants to collaborate on documents, presentations, and more.
  • Reactions and Emojis: During calls, you can express yourself using reactions and emojis, which are displayed in real-time to all participants, adding a fun and interactive element to your conversations.

Conclusion:

By following these steps, you'll be able to seamlessly initiate and participate in voice and video calls within the Tandem platform, enabling you to communicate and collaborate effectively with your team members.
