Managing expenses with friends, family, or roommates can be a breeze with Splitwise. Whether you're splitting rent, groceries, or a fun night out, Splitwise makes it easy to keep track of who owes what. Here’s a quick guide on how to add your first expense to get started with Splitwise.

Steps to Add Your First Expense:

  1. Log in to Splitwise:
  1. Select the Group or Friend:
  • From the home screen, choose the group or friend with whom you want to split the expense.
  1. Click 'Add an Expense':
  • Tap the ‘Add an expense’ button at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Enter the Expense Details:
  • Fill in the details of the expense:
  • Amount: Enter the total amount to be split.
  • Description: Add a description (e.g., "Dinner at Joe's").
  • Date: (Optional) Select the date of the expense.
  1. Select Who Paid and Who Should Split:
  • Indicate who paid for the expense and choose the people who should split it. Splitwise will automatically calculate each person’s share.
  1. Customize Splitting Options (if needed):
  • If you want to split the expense in a way other than equally, tap on the 'split equally' button to explore different options like 'unequal' or 'percentages'.
  1. Save the Expense:
  • Once you have entered all the details, tap the ‘Save’ button. Splitwise will update the balances for the group or friends automatically.
  1. Review and Adjust:
  • Check the balances to ensure everything is correct. You can always go back and edit the expense if needed.
