Troubleshooting Common Splitwise Errors

  • Login Issues:
  • Forgot Password: If you've forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Password" link on the login page, and Splitwise will send an email with instructions to reset your password.
  • Incorrect Login Credentials: Double-check that you're entering the correct email address and password. Make sure caps lock is not enabled.
  • Account Deactivated: If your account has been deactivated, you'll need to contact Splitwise support for assistance.
  • Expense-Related Errors:
  • Unable to Save Expense: If you can't save an expense, make sure you've filled in all required fields, including the expense name, amount, and participants. Verify that you have selected a payment method.
  • Splitting Errors: Double-check that the splitting method is correctly applied and that the amounts for each person are accurate.
  • Payment Errors:
  • Declined Payment: If a payment is declined, check that you have sufficient funds in your account. Also, verify that the payment information is entered correctly.
  • Payment Pending: If a payment shows as pending, it means the payment is being processed. It might take some time for the funds to reflect in the recipient's account.
  • General Issues:
  • Syncing Issues: If you're experiencing synchronization problems, check your internet connection or try refreshing the page.
  • App Glitches: If you encounter errors within the mobile app, try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, you may need to update the app or contact Splitwise support.
