Setting Up Payments and Sending Requests
Once you've tracked your expenses in Splitwise, it's time to settle up! Splitwise provides a convenient way to send payment requests, track payments made, and ensure everyone is financially squared away.
Sending Payment Requests and Making Payments
- Navigate to "Balances": From your Splitwise dashboard, go to the "Balances" tab.
- View Your Balances: You'll see a list of people you owe money to and people who owe you money.
- Send Payment Request:
- Click "Request Payment": Select the person you're requesting a payment from, and click "Request Payment".
- Choose Payment Amount: Enter the amount you're requesting.
- Add a Note (Optional): You can include a brief note to remind them of the payment.
- Send Request: Click "Send Request" to send your payment request.
- Make a Payment:
- Click "Pay Now": If you're ready to make a payment, click "Pay Now" next to the person you owe money to.
- Choose Payment Method: Select how you want to make the payment (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, bank transfer, or cash).
- Confirm Payment: Follow the prompts to complete the payment according to your chosen method.
- Tracking Payments:
- Review Payment History: Splitwise keeps a record of all payments you've made or received.
- Balance Updates: As payments are made or received, your balances with individuals will automatically update.
- Additional Features:
- Set Payment Deadlines: You can set deadlines for payments.
- Reminders: You can set reminders for yourself about pending payments.
