Creating and Managing Collections

Last updated September 4, 2024

Unsplash's collection feature allows you to curate sets of images around specific themes, creating visual libraries that reflect your taste and interests. Whether you're a photographer showcasing your work, a designer gathering inspiration, or simply an enthusiast building a curated library of imagery, collections are a powerful tool.

Creating a Collection

  • Log in to Your Account: Make sure you're logged into your Unsplash account.
  • Navigate to Your Profile: Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the website.
  • Access the "Collections" Tab: From your profile page, select the "Collections" tab.
  • Create a New Collection: Click the "Create a Collection" button to start building a new collection.
  • Choose a Name and Description: Give your collection a clear and descriptive name that accurately reflects its theme. Add a brief description that provides context and helps others understand the collection's focus.
  • Add Images: Start adding images to your collection by searching for photos on Unsplash and selecting the "Add to Collection" button. You can add images from your own uploads, images you've liked, or anything you find inspiring.
  • Set Permissions: Decide whether your collection should be public or private. Public collections are visible to everyone on Unsplash, while private collections are only viewable by you.

Managing Your Collections

  • Edit Information: You can adjust the name, description, and permissions of your collection at any time.
  • Add and Remove Images: You can add new images to your collection or remove images that no longer fit.
  • Reorder Images: Drag and drop images within your collection to change their order and create a visually appealing arrangement.
  • Share Your Collections: You can share your public collections with others by copying and sharing the link.
  • Collaborate: If you have a public collection, you can invite others to contribute images.
  • Delete Collections: If you no longer need a collection, you can delete it.

Benefits of Collections

  • Organization: Collections help you organize your favorite images, making it easier to find them later.
  • Inspiration: Collections can serve as a source of inspiration, helping you to explore different themes and aesthetics.
  • Sharing: Public collections allow you to share your curated selections with others, promoting your vision and connecting with a wider audience.

By creating and managing collections on Unsplash, you can effectively organize your visual inspiration, showcase your curated tastes, and connect with other users who share similar interests.
