Sharing Spreadsheets with Others

Collaboration is at the heart of Stackby, enabling you to share your spreadsheets with colleagues, friends, or clients and work together seamlessly. This guide will walk you through the process of sharing your spreadsheets, controlling access levels, and managing permissions for efficient and secure collaboration.

Sharing a Spreadsheet

  • Access the Sharing Panel:
  • Open the spreadsheet you want to share.
  • Click the "Share" button in the toolbar, or select "Share" from the "File" menu.
  • This will open the sharing panel.
  • Share with Individuals:
  • In the "Invite people" section, enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the spreadsheet with.
  • Choose the access level for each person:
  • Can edit: Allows the person to edit all aspects of the spreadsheet.
  • Can view: Allows the person to only view the spreadsheet.
  • Can comment: Allows the person to add comments to the spreadsheet.
  • Share with a Link:
  • In the "Shareable Link" section, select "Copy link" to create a link that you can share with others.
  • You can choose the access level for the link:
  • Can edit: Anyone with the link can edit the spreadsheet.
  • Can view: Anyone with the link can only view the spreadsheet.
  • Can comment: Anyone with the link can add comments.

Managing Permissions

  • Control Permissions:
  • Within the sharing panel, you can view and adjust the permissions of each person or group you have shared the spreadsheet with.
  • Click on the access level next to the individual's name to change their permissions.
  • Remove Access:
  • To revoke someone's access, click on the three dots next to their name in the sharing panel and select "Remove Access."
  • Add or Remove Collaborators:
  • Use the "Invite people" and "Remove Access" features to manage the list of collaborators.

Collaboration Features

  • In-Spreadsheet Comments:
  • Leave comments directly on cells within the spreadsheet for discussions and feedback.
  • Reply to comments to keep conversations organized.
  • Version History:
  • Track changes made to the spreadsheet with a full version history.
  • You can revert to older versions if needed.
  • Real-Time Collaboration:
  • Multiple users can work on a spreadsheet simultaneously, with changes reflected in real-time.
  • This fosters collaborative work and efficient workflow.
