Creating Custom Dashboards

Rootly's custom dashboards provide a powerful way to visualize and monitor key metrics relevant to your applications and infrastructure. You can create dashboards tailored to your specific needs, enabling you to quickly grasp the health and performance of your systems.

Designing Your Dashboard

  • Navigate to the Dashboards section: From the Rootly dashboard, click on the "Dashboards" tab in the navigation bar.
  • Click "Create Dashboard": Locate the "Create Dashboard" button and click on it.
  • Name your dashboard: Choose a descriptive name for your dashboard, making it easy to identify.
  • Add widgets: Select the widgets you want to include on your dashboard:
  • Monitor widgets: Display real-time data from your monitors, including performance graphs, status indicators, and key metrics.
  • Alert widgets: Show a list of active alerts, providing a quick overview of critical issues.
  • Custom widgets: Integrate data from other sources or create custom widgets using Rootly's API.
  • Customize widget settings: For each widget, configure the following:
  • Data source: Choose the monitor, alert, or data source to display.
  • Visualizations: Select the chart type (line graph, bar chart, pie chart, etc.) or display format.
  • Time range: Define the time period for which you want to view data (e.g., last hour, last day, last week).
  • Thresholds and alerts: Set thresholds and alerts based on the widget's data, enabling you to receive notifications for critical events.
  • Arrange widgets: Drag and drop widgets to arrange them on your dashboard and create a visually appealing layout.
  • Save and share: Save your dashboard for future access and share it with team members or stakeholders.

Example Dashboard Scenarios

  • Application Performance: Create a dashboard to monitor your application's uptime, response time, error rates, and resource utilization.
  • Infrastructure Health: Track the health and performance of your servers, databases, and key infrastructure components.
