Securing your server is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and reliability of your applications. In this guide, we will walk you through setting up firewalls on Cloudways to protect your server from unauthorized access.
Steps to Set Up Firewalls
- Log in to your Cloudways account and navigate to the "Servers" tab.
- Select the server for which you want to configure the firewall.
- Click on the "Security" option from the server management menu.
- In the "Security" section, you will see the "Firewall" tab. Click on it.
- Add the IP addresses that you want to whitelist under "Allowed IPs".
- Click on "Add" to include these IP addresses in the firewall.
- Once all desired IPs are added, click on "Save Changes" to apply the firewall settings.
- Verify that the new firewall settings are active by attempting to access the server from a whitelisted IP and a non-whitelisted IP.
By following these steps, you will ensure that only specified IP addresses can access your server, adding an important layer of security to your Cloudways environment.
