Creating and Using Learning Paths

Last updated July 30, 2024

Learning paths are curated sequences of courses designed to help individuals acquire a specific set of skills or knowledge. Pluralsight's learning path feature allows you to create personalized learning plans for your team or for your own individual development.

Creating Learning Paths

  • Log In to Pluralsight: Start by logging into your Pluralsight account.
  • Access the Admin Console: You'll need to access the admin console if you're creating a learning path for your team. This is typically available within your account settings or through a dedicated link provided by Pluralsight.
  • Select "Create Learning Path": Look for the option to create a new learning path within the admin console. You might need to navigate to a specific section or tab related to learning path creation.
  • Choose a Name and Description: Give your learning path a clear and descriptive name.
  • Select the Skill Area: Choose the skill area or technology that your learning path will focus on. For example, you might select "Cloud Computing," "Data Science," or "Software Development."
  • Add Courses: Browse the Pluralsight catalog and add relevant courses to your learning path. You can add courses directly from the catalog or by searching for courses based on specific keywords or skill levels.
  • Sequence the Courses: Organize the courses in your learning path in a logical sequence. Consider the prerequisites and dependencies between courses, and ensure that the order makes sense for the learner's progression.
  • Provide Guidance: Consider adding a brief description or overview for each course. This can help learners understand the purpose and content of the course within the context of the learning path.
  • Save and Publish: Once you've added all the courses and organized them in a sequence, save your learning path and publish it so that it's available for use.

Using Learning Paths

  • Assign Learning Paths to Team Members: If you're an administrator, use the admin console to assign learning paths to team members. This will help them access the curated courses and progress at their own pace.
  • Use Learning Paths for Personal Development: Individuals can create learning paths for their own professional development. This allows them to focus on specific areas where they want to improve their skills.
  • Track Progress: Monitor the progress of team members or your own learning progress through the learning path. This helps you track completion rates, identify challenges, and provide guidance as needed.
  • Review and Update: Regularly review your learning paths and make updates as needed. New courses are released regularly, and skills evolve over time. Keep your learning paths current and relevant to ensure your team has access to the most up-to-date information.

Creating and using learning paths on Pluralsight can help you effectively guide your team or your own learning journey, ensure focused development, and stay ahead of the curve in the ever-changing world of technology.
