Occasional payment processing issues can occur, but understanding common problems and solutions can help you resolve them quickly.
Common Payment Processing Issues and Solutions
- Invalid Payment Information: The most common cause of payment processing errors is incorrect or incomplete payment details.
- Solution: Carefully verify the following:
- Card Number: Ensure the card number is entered correctly, without any spaces or hyphens.
- Expiration Date: Double-check the card's expiration date.
- CVV/CVC Code: The security code on the back of the card should be entered accurately.
- Billing Address: Make sure the billing address matches the address associated with the card.
- Card Type: Verify that the card type (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) is supported by Duffel.
- Insufficient Funds: The payment may fail if the card doesn't have sufficient funds to cover the transaction amount.
- Solution: Confirm that the card has enough funds available. You can also try using a different payment method if available.
- Declined by Issuing Bank: The issuing bank may decline the transaction due to various reasons, such as:
- Fraudulent Activity: The bank may suspect fraudulent activity if there is a pattern of unusual transactions or if the cardholder's location is significantly different from their usual spending patterns.
- Exceeding Spending Limits: A card may have a daily or monthly spending limit, which could be reached.
- Card Status: The card may be deactivated, expired, or flagged for other reasons.
- Solution: Contact the issuing bank to confirm the reason for the decline and attempt to resolve any issues.
- Payment Gateway Errors: Occasionally, payment gateway errors occur due to technical issues on the payment provider's side.
- Solution: If you encounter a persistent gateway error, attempt to retry the payment later. You can also:
- Contact Duffel Support: Notify Duffel support about the error so they can investigate the issue.
- Use a Different Payment Method: If possible, try using a different card or payment method.
- Network Issues: Intermittent network issues can sometimes cause payment processing errors.
- Solution: Check your internet connection or try processing the payment again later.
- Incorrect Billing Address: A mismatch between the billing address associated with the card and the billing address provided during checkout can trigger a decline.
- Solution: Ensure the billing address entered matches the address associated with the card.
By following these troubleshooting steps and working closely with your customers and Duffel support if necessary, you can address most payment processing issues and ensure a smooth payment experience.
