Last updated November 1, 2023

Introduction:

In a diverse software ecosystem, not every application or service may require the same level of observability. Odigos understands this and offers the flexibility to selectively target specific applications for monitoring. This article provides a guide on how to choose and configure target applications within the Odigos platform.

Steps to Select Target Applications:

  1. Log in to Odigos Dashboard:
  • Access the Odigos web interface using your credentials to reach the main dashboard.
  1. Navigate to Application Settings:
  • On the left sidebar, click on "Settings" and then select "Application Settings."
  1. View Current Applications:
  • You'll be presented with a list of all applications currently being monitored by Odigos.
  1. Initiate Application Selection:
  • Click on the "Select Target Applications" button located at the top right corner of the dashboard.
  1. Choose Your Targets:
  • A list of all detectable applications within your environment will be displayed.
  • Check the box next to each application you wish to target for monitoring. You can also use the search bar to quickly locate specific applications.
  1. Configure Monitoring Parameters (Optional):
  • For each selected application, you can click on the "Configure" button to set specific monitoring parameters, such as sampling rate, alert thresholds, and more.
  1. Save and Apply Changes:
  • Once you've made your selections, click on the "Apply Changes" button at the bottom of the page. Odigos will now focus its monitoring efforts on the selected target applications.
  1. Verify Targeted Monitoring:
  • Return to the main dashboard and ensure that only the data from your selected target applications is being displayed. This confirms that Odigos is now specifically monitoring the chosen applications.

Odigos' capability to selectively target applications ensures that businesses can prioritize their monitoring efforts, focusing on critical applications while conserving resources. By following the steps outlined above, users can easily customize their observability landscape, making the most of what Odigos has to offer.
